Purpose:
Reporting to the Vitera Chief Operating Officer, this role will be responsible for managing key initiatives and ongoing BAU processes within the Controllership function. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and will have a deep understanding of the insurance and / or retirement industry, including GAAP and Statutory accounting. The candidate will serve in a highly visible role that is key to supporting Vitera’s finance organization during a time of significant growth.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage GAAP and Statutory close processes, financial statement preparation, and audits
  • Lead Vitera budgeting and forecasting, providing executive leadership with financial insights and performance reporting
  • Oversee customer/partner invoicing, investment reimbursements, and treasury cash management
  • Coordinate external relationships for audits, tax, due diligence, and outsourced functions
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives, process improvements, and system enhancements to support growth and efficiency
  • Serve as finance lead for new products, partnerships, and strategic initiatives
  • Support compensation, expense reimbursement, and other operational finance activities


Qualifications and Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in a financial reporting or controller role
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience; direct or indirect
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, and STAT accounting for an insurance and/or retirement services company
  • Ability to effectively interface with senior management across ARS, Athene and Apollo, as well as auditors and other outside stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior management and stakeholders
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • CPA designation and prior controllership experience strongly preferred
